On January 25th I posted an article concerning which WMG bands are alright to cover again (to my knowledge). Judging by a cover which will be posted later today, it seems like we can add another big name to that list: Metallica.
Even though their videos are still blocked in MetallicaTV, this rendition shows two advertisements: first a Google ad, and then, the usual iTunes “download this song” ad, which is the way to tell, I believe, that WMG is no longer blocking those videos.
However, before you pick up your guitar ready to shoot your own version of “Fade To Black,”remember this depends on the country you’re in and their very particular copyright laws. It also depends on the record labels changing the rules every 5 minutes, so, please, be careful.
Give it a shot. If it gets blocked, then, please, do not insist. Just delete it and go back to covering other artists until we know if Warner has finally come to their senses.

I thought metallica liked people covering their stuff before? they made a vid congradulating a couple youtubers. God I hate WMG! there is no point.
